The bells at Christ Church
The bells at Christ Church were cast in 1884 by the Warner bell foundry in London.
They underwent major renovation in 1999 when Nicholson Engineering provided all new fittings.
The bellringers are keen but currently low in numbers as a few people have moved away. We ring on
Sunday mornings at 10.15 for the 11.00 service. The bells are perfect for teaching new people as they are
light and easy to ring (six bells, tenor 6 cwt for the technically minded!). If you’re interested in
having a go, all are welcome to pop along to our Thursday night practice (7.15 to 9.00 p.m.).
We also ring the bells for weddings and other special services.
The handbell ringers are integral part of life at Christ Church. We have an enthusiastic band
that rings occasionally in services. The team also raises money for charity with public performances
throughout the year. If you’d like to have go, you’re welcome to come along to our Sunday evening
practices in the hall from 6.30 to 8.00 p.m.
