13 Apr Prayer for the week
This week’s prayers include a version of the Lord’s Prayer used by the Anglican church in New Zealand. As the world continues to stumble in darkness, we look towards the light and the good news.
Earth-maker, Pain-bearer, Life-giver,
Source of all that is and that shall be,
Father and Mother of us all,
Loving God, in whom is heaven:
The hallowing of your name echo through the universe!
The way of your justice be followed by the peoples of the world!
Your heavenly will be done by all created beings!
Your commonwealth of peace and freedom sustain our hope and come on earth.
With the bread we need for today, feed us.
In the hurts we absorb from one another, forgive us.
In times of temptation and test, strengthen us.
From trials too great to endure, spare us.
From the grip of all that is evil, free us.
For you reign in the glory of the power that is love, now and for ever.
A prayer for family life.
Lord Jesus, at Nazareth you shared in the life of your family. Help us to live together in our family with love and respect for each other. Make our home a place of blessing, peace and joy for everyone, to the glory of God the Father.
A prayer for the sick and those ministering to them.
Father of us all, we pray with all our hearts and souls for those made sick and those suffering alongside them in this time of great trial. We pray that your peace will be made known even amidst the noise of a world crying out in pain and distress. We pray for the souls of those who have died, for those who mourn their loss, for those who die alone. We give thanks for those who care for others, for the health workers, the NHS and those providing services essential to life. As your Son taught us in word and deed, the greatest loving act of all is to lay down your life for others. May we learn and love, may we never forget.
