14 Jan Churches closed for Public Worship
After a combined DCCs meeting on Tuesday, we voted by a clear majority to close our churches for Sunday and midweek worship. This was with a heavy heart, but felt the right thing to do, given the spread of the virus and the terrible strain on our NHS. Most churches locally and across London have opted to do the same. Worship is suspended up to and including Sunday 14 February, before which we will meet again to see if it is safe to resume worship ready for Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent.
We voted to remain open for private prayer (rather like in the November lockdown), so if any church member or someone from the wider community wishes to make use of that, see the times on the websites.
We will also be open, on a case-by-case basis and with strict limitations, for any who desire deeply a baptism, wedding or funeral in these times.
We pray for our NHS, for all afflicted with COVID, for those who have died, for all who grieve, for the roll-out of the vaccine and for one another: O God, make speed to save us; O Lord, make haste to help us.
